Catechesis of the Good Shepherd St Mark’s Atrium
“The child’s deepest need is for relationship. We know that we grow and are formed through relationships…I think that it is possible to say that God is the necessary Partner the child needs for the fullest possible self-formation.” - Sofia Cavalletti
Our mission is to help the child experience and develop an authentic and intimate relationship with God and to bring adults and families closer to God.
The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is a way of being in a relationship with God, an approach inspired by the Montessori method for children as young as three years through to twelve years old.
Why religious formation at such a young age? Are we imposing our own values on our children? Are young children able to live in a relationship with God?
Perhaps, these are the questions you have in mind.
The children across cultures and times revealed similar responses and answers to these questions.
